£750,000 Ian Williams deal for MET

Property services specialist Ian Williams has signed a three-year, online services contract with Managed Enterprise Technologies for £750,000.

Ian Williams, which looks after the maintenance and servicing of buildings for housing associations and councils, relies on its IT infrastructure for everything from logging calls and booking repairs, to scheduling planned works and communicating with operatives out on the road using PDAs.

Steve Harvey, IT manager, Ian Williams, said, “We needed to look at outsourcing IT support when our two in-house support workers decided to move on.” The company then integrated this with ongoing network and server support to offer a seamless service and minimise downtime.

MET is now responsible for most of Ian Williams’ IT requirements across the UK, including user support, information back-up, disaster recovery, server maintenance, remote access systems and ensuring systems are up to date with the latest technologies. Ian Williams now uses Exchange and Outlook applications, secure remote access and optimised internal networks which allow employees to work as efficiently as possible from the different offices around the country and while out on the road.

Steve Harvey said, “Ian Williams has expanded over the last couple of years so there has been an associated requirement for new IT services and software, such as Planet FM, to help our business run smoothly. While our core accounting system is still managed in-house, everything else is now handled by MET.”
