IoT 2017 - Presentations
BT – Mark Harrop, Strategy & Business Development Director
What is IoT and how can it help housing providers address their business issues. Is it here today, can we make it happen, and how do we manage the huge volumes of data generated by IoT projects in a secure way?
Capita – Stewart Davison, Head of Business Development
‘Show me the money! Housing, IoT and how we can achieve ROI’ – Self-surveying properties, smart meters and smart homes offer so much promise, but how do they work in the real world and where do you start? IoT has sometimes been called a ‘technology looking for an application’. Radical change for asset management, smart devices and the management of public spaces is starting to become a reality, so now’s the time to make sure your organisation is getting ready to take advantage. In this session, Capita will discuss how it has been researching and developing IoT solutions for social housing, the lessons learnt from a pilot with a social housing provider and how sensor-based technologies may provide real return on investment.
Civica – Hellen Bowey, Managing Director of Alcove (a Civica partner)
Enriching lives through smart devices, smart decisions and smarter data – You will discover how we are helping housing providers to enrich the lives of their tenants through deploying a blend of smart digital technologies and new approaches to delivering care and support, to transform the lives of people who are living with health & wellbeing challenges and social isolation.
Flagship Group – Matt Brazier, Director of IT
The presentation focuses on Flagship’s IoT pilot project currently being trialled in Norfolk. It covers the technology used, and the benefits seen. The results will convince anyone that taking a risk on new, innovative technologies can lead to fantastic results for both housing providers and your tenants. The presentation will also cover the second phase of our pilot, using IoT technology to solve the age-old problems of ‘no access’ to a property, fuel poverty, fire-alarm testing, and many more issues that housing providers see every day.
RHP – Tom Way, Innovation Manager and Jonathan Creaser, ICT Director
‘If I only had a brain’ – How connectivity is enabling business transformation and why the housing sector should be next.
The University of Reading – Dr Etienne Roesch, Associate Professor of Cognitive Science
Cocoon: Emotional psychology meets cyber-physical security in IoT smart homes – Cocoon, an EU-funded international research consortium, interweaves innovations in two disciplines to understand and improve security of domestic IoT technologies: emotional psychology and cyber security. We produce an understanding of the psychology of IoT users, assess risks in current and future IoT systems, and formulate provisions for the design and integration of user-centric IoT in tomorrow’s homes.
