Directed by the acclaimed Lorna Tucker, this film is set to make its debut on 16th February 2024, following a highly successful Kickstarter campaign earlier this year. Lorna Tucker, whose personal journey from homelessness to becoming an award-winning film director informs the narrative, offers an intimate look into the systemic issues surrounding homelessness in the UK. “Someone’s Daughter, Someone’s Son” is not just a film; it’s a movement, backed by influential figures like Sam Fender, Bryan Adams—who has penned an exclusive song for the film.
George Grant (CEO, Housing Technology): “The documentary is a reminder that homelessness can happen to anyone, but that there should always be hope for the future. Lorna’s story overcoming homelessness is at the heart of this film, which demonstrates her resilience and the power of storytelling, and, alongside Lord John Bird, The Big Issue, Shelter, Crisis, Housing Technology have been honoured to back this project.”
Shelter and Crisis : “This powerful film is a rallying call that homelessness is not inevitable, and we can end the housing emergency for good.”
The Connection at St Martin’s : “Lorna knows homelessness, The Connection knows homelessness – and together we know what it will take to end it.”
The Big Issue: “We believe this film can be a key tool and rallying cry in the campaign to end homelessness, energising people across the UK, to put pressure on politicians at a local and national level to make real change.”
The Guardian: “It is a heartbreaking but hopeful film – with the message that homelessness is a solvable problem”
