Housing Technology & Aareon – Housing Perspectives 2019

Housing Technology and Aareon UK have jointly published ‘Housing Perspectives 2019’, a market intelligence report covering digital housing, self-service and managed services as well as an overview of some of the IT trends in social housing.

IN-DEPTH CONTENT

The art of self-service

The report opens with a feature on the art of self-service, making the central point that while there have been many new technology advances that have impacted the social housing world, such as digital by default, IoT, big data and cloud, it’s self-service that will perhaps have the greatest impact. Self-service doesn’t just make tenants’ lives easier, but also has the potential to percolate throughout a housing provider’s entire operations, with examples from Halton Housing, Raven Housing, Thenue Housing and Thrive Homes.

The digital housing provider of the future

The second feature considers what a digital housing provider of the future will look like, based on technologies that are already beginning to be used by some housing providers as well as some newer technologies (such as IoT and drones) that are still in their relative infancy. These technologies and strategies have the common themes of streamlining operations, based on the concept of a housing provider having a single, central system which acts as a repository of its entire ‘corporate knowledge’.

Managed services in housing

The third feature looks at managed services in housing, including how WHG is using Aareon’s own managed services offering, focusing on its core benefits such as cost savings, better security, peace of mind and access to prized skills and resources, through the vitally important aspect of the trustworthiness and financial stability of the managed service provider to whom a housing provider could be entrusting their operational resilience and business future.
