We were proud to sponsor the first Commonwealth Women’s Entrepreneurship Summit which took place last week on 19-20 May. It’s the first global event to focus on women in emerging tech sectors and is convened by the Commonwealth Businesswomen’s Network.
The two-day conference brought together policymakers, accelerators, incubators, co-working spaces, educational institutions, funding groups and entrepreneurs to further advance gender equality in entrepreneurship.
Hundreds of delegates attended from over 75 countries to hear from over 50 inspirational women speakers. Featuring panel sessions spotlighting tech sectors from Fintech and EdTech to FashionTech and AgriTech, there were also personal stories from female founders sharing their experiences as entrepreneurs.
Activities were coordinated on the WorldLabs platform where host organisations CBWN, GEN UK and Women In Innovation have established communities which connect with the global innovation ecosystem.
One of our sessions from the Housing Technology 2021 conference was featured at the summit. Our discussion with Julieta Moradei, partner at Hometeam Ventures, and Lord Bird MBE, founder of The Big Issue, covered how construction innovation and societal change could help with house building of the future and close the global housing gap.
