Business continuity for smaller HAs

Gloucestershire-based Biscon has created a complete, fixed-price disaster recovery solution for small- and medium-sized housing organisations. Aimed at housing organisations with around 50 employees, Biscon’s fixed-price solution covers business continuity, disaster recovery, property damage restoration (including buildings, equipment and documents), relocation facilities and even insurance premium reductions.

Mick Bayne, director, Biscon, said, “The fixed-cost solution is £2500 for businesses with up to 50 employees. However, the value of the solution is immense if it means that a housing organisation is able to continue to look after its tenants’ welfare, deal with the vulnerable, complete urgent repairs and respond to anti-social behavior both during and after an incident.”

Biscon specialises in business continuity for housing associations and has provided services for over 25 associations across the country. It believes that small and medium-sized companies often put their disaster recovery plan on the back burner because they don’t feel they have the resources or the budget.

Mike Jacobs, director, Biscon, added “Nearly one in five businesses suffer a major disruption every year and many are unprepared. It’s normal for the boss to think ‘it will never happen to me’, but as the floods in summer 2007 showed, disasters do happen. And it’s important to have an action plan ready before a crisis occurs. Building in business continuity rather than having to firefight an emergency helps ensure that it’s business as usual when things go wrong.”
