Civica buys Innogistic & partners with Experian

Civica has just bought Innogistic, a geospatial systems specialist based in Bristol for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition brings specialist technology and resource to Civica, and extends its market presence in the area of location data management.

Innogistic specialises in application software and related services with particular expertise in geospatial information systems and is already a leading supplier to central and local government.

Civica & Experian partner to reduce fraud

With the development of a joint Tenancy Verification Service, Civica and Experian are combining their data and analytic systems to help housing providers reduce the level of housing fraud, which the companies say costs taxpayers around £5 billion per year.

The Tenancy Verification Service uses data matching and risk profiling to identify high certainties of housing fraud which can then be followed up and investigated. Experian’s data assets and analytics, combined with Civica’s systems and processes, will help make serious inroads into the estimated 50,000 social housing properties illegally sub-let or occupied in the UK.

Nick Mothershaw, director of identity and fraud, Experian, said, “Experian’s data and analytics have already identified many instances of social housing fraud, including where tenancies are in names that are deceased, sub-let illegally or where tenants are advertising their properties for rent.”
