Defect management from BluTek

BluTek has just launched Defects Manager, a dedicated solution to simplify and automate the identification, notification and tracking of defects in newly-built housing stock.

Defects management is typically handled using a combination of email, telephone and fax, making it difficult for housing providers and contractors to follow the progress of outstanding defects, measure contractor performance or evaluate the reliability of newly-fitted equipment. Defects Manager overcomes these issues by centralising the defect records securely online.

Once details of a housing defect have been entered into Defects Manager, the system automatically contacts the appropriate contractor and employer’s agent (EA) by email, notifying them of the issues needing to be addressed. Each contractor and EA can only access their specific files in the centralised defects database, allowing them to update its status. Housing providers can monitor progress and view contractors’ key performance indicators, and at the end of the defects period the software can automatically pass all reported defects back to the organisation’s housing management system.

Defects Manager uses a standard web browser to access defect records maintained on a secure, off-site web server. The software accommodates every aspect of housing stock defect management, enabling organisations to expedite problem resolution while maintaining a clear audit trail for quality control.

Defects Manager software can either be used as a stand-alone package, or as an integral part of an organisation’s BluBrik development management system, which supports the lifecycle management of multiple and mixed property development portfolios.
