Flagship maps the future

Flagship Housing Group has recently signed with Pitney Bowes MapInfo for the delivery of a new asset management system and location intelligence software to create an effective land terrier and improve its tenant services.

With the deployment of PlanWeb, a intranet-based GIS solution, together with MapInfo Professional, Flagship plans to establish a land terrier covering the 20,000 properties under its management. The new system will enable Flagship to produce visual, up-to-the-minute data records for community managers and contact centres to use when dealing with customers, planners, regulators and mobile workers.

Colin Daine, head of business solutions, Flagship Housing Group, said, “This system will give us the capability to respond to customers at the point of need, from visitors to reception to asset management and contact centres, and out in the field through mobile devices. We expect over 150 of our IT users across the group to deliver tangible benefits from this unprecedented visual access at their fingertips.”

Once the land terrier is deployed, Flagship expects to extend the capabilities of the system to work with regulators and to share information with partners, such as the police relating to anti-social behaviour incidents.

Pitney Bowes MapInfo has also recently launched a mobile module to augment its Confirm asset and infrastructure management system. The Jobs in the Field module lets mobile operatives to receive new instructions, report on the progress of work and input completed work details.
