GeoSolveIT maps success for City South Manchester

City South Manchester, which manages 4500 properties around Manchester, has contracted with GeoSolveIT, a specialist GIS consultancy, for the provision of geographic reporting tools.

Dave Power, chief executive, City South Manchester, said, “We were only set up in June 2008, but we recognised that geographic information would be a vital dimension to help us understand our business better. Knowing about geographic information, from locations and patterns of anti-social behaviour through to the spatial relationships of our asset management programmes, is vital.”

Using GeoSamba, GeoSolveIT’s project has delivered a web-based GIS solution for all staff. City South Manchester can now map and analyse its on-going asset improvement programme, including reports showing the spatial achievement of the Government’s Decent Homes requirements, internal and external asset improvement works, as well as servicing and maintenance activities.

Power added, “Initial internal response to the GIS solution has been excellent. Housing associations need to appreciate the value of GIS solutions – the ease of use and flexibility of the tools deployed by GeoSolveIT is genuinely impressive. Following successful training, our team now has a raft of ideas about how else they can use the system.”
