Three top tips on how to prepare today to protect the future

Author: David Todd, BigChange

In the wake of the current crisis we’re all facing, it’s more important than ever to prepare today to protect the future of any business large or small. David Todd, social housing consultant to BigChange, shares three tips on how all housing organisations can adopt new technologies to provide sustainable remote working solutions, increase productivity, improve customer service and safeguard the business for the future.

Utilise any down time to review current systems

Unfortunately for many, there are certain areas of the business which will have no choice but to stop working in these uncertain times. This time need not be wasted and can be used to review all current systems in place within your organisation. Some areas of the business may lag behind as a result of older technology such as workforce management, planning or scheduling, so this time can be used to identify whether these IT systems could be consolidated to make a situation like this less problematic in the future.

Get ahead of the backlog

While the UK is now in complete lockdown, there will inevitably be a backlog of many jobs, such as repairs and services which can no longer go ahead. This could lead to a significant amount of paperwork once we recover from this pandemic. As such, it might be time to consider more sophisticated IT solutions to help manage the backlog now and protect the business from any future and unprecedented situations like the current one we are all facing.

Plan for the future

Now is the time to look at what new technology is available to help, support and protect your business in the future. Sophisticated systems are available which allow remote working to be seamless and effective to avoid unnecessary disturbance to the industry. This will help many organisations stay in touch with suppliers and customers to help limit the effects of any downtime and keep the business afloat during these turbulent times.

We are fortunate enough to live in a world where technology leads the way, which means the opportunity is there to make full use of the power of the sophisticated technology available. Adopting new technologies will improve the way you run your business now, whilst protecting and safeguarding it for the future.
