Raven Housing takes Aico for fire safety

Raven Housing Trust has chosen Aico for the upgrade of its fire protection systems in over 400 dwellings across its sheltered and temporary accommodation.

Raven Housing’s three-year programme will involve electrical contractor AJS installing Aico’s fire and carbon-monoxide alarms across over 400 temporary dwellings, while Raven Housing’s direct labour organisation (DLO) will upgrade its sheltered accommodation and ‘general needs’ properties to LD1 and LD2 specifications during changes of tenancy or rewiring works.

Christian Hirschfield, electrical manager, Raven Housing Trust, said, “We chose Aico as our supplier for this project due to its reputation for high-quality products and innovative technology. Aico’s commitment to safety and reliability makes it an ideal partner for our homes, ensuring that we provide the best possible protection for our residents.”

The upgrade will involve the installation of Aico alarms tailored to specific areas in the temporary dwellings: Ei3028 multi-sensor heat and carbon-monoxide alarms in kitchens with boilers; Ei3024 multi-sensor fire alarms in kitchens without boilers; and Ei3016 optical smoke alarms for hallways, corridors, stairwells, living areas and bedrooms. All alarms will be interconnected via Aico’s Ei3000MRF wireless module so that if one alarm is activated, all alarms will sound. At each of the sheltered accommodation sites, Aico’s Ei414 RadioLink+ interface will be used to connect the new alarm system with Raven Housing’s existing warden-call setup.

Aico’s relationship manager for the South East of England, Paul Barrett, will support the installation team from Raven Housing and AJS with the company’s CPD-accredited ‘Expert Installer’ training course. The installation team can then extend their knowledge by completing Aico’s City & Guilds course on ‘Domestic Fire and CO Alarm Systems’ at the company’s headquarters in Shropshire.
