Yorkshire Housing mobilises with South View Solutions

Yorkshire Housing is in the middle of implementing a new mobile working system from South View Solutions, with the SVSOnSite software expected to be fully- operational by April 2011. Yorkshire Housing currently employs around 90 workers in four ‘HomeWorks’ depots to carry out maintenance and repairs services across its 15,000 properties.

Integrated with Yorkshire Housing’s existing back-office systems, the SVS software running on Motorola PDAs will allow maintenance and repairs appointments to be assigned to workers in real time, who will then be able to fill in the job sheet on the PDA once the job has been completed. Furthermore, the new system will allow tenants to sign off work directly on the PDA.

The back-office integration of the SVSOnSite software also means that when tenants contact Yorkshire Housing regarding repairs appointments, they can find out the exact status of their appointment and receive notifications of when the worker will arrive.

Phil Royales, head of HomeWorks, Yorkshire Housing, said, “Implementation of our new repairs system is well under way. The new software will enable repairs to be scheduled far more efficiently, our HomeWorks teams to be better coordinated and our managers to have access to more up-to-date information.

“The new handsets are already being used in the field and the new software is in our test systems. We plan to go live with the new system by April 2011.”
