Flintshire County Council has reduced its rent arrears by £170,000 following its introduction of Mobysoft’s RentSense software.
In the past year, the council’s rent arrears have fallen to 4.5 per cent, down from 5.1 per cent in the previous year, and are now the lowest figures since 2021.
The RentSense platform has enabled the council to take early, proactive action on its arrears cases, helping its tenants manage their payments better while reducing the need for court actions and evictions.
Carwyn Jones, rent collection team leader, Flintshire County Council, said, “RentSense allows us to get to tenants earlier and faster – it’s much easier to collect £500 than £5,000. We’ve seen a massive reduction in arrears; by pinpointing which tenants need our support early, we’ve cut our arrears by over £170,000.”
Evictions from the council’s properties have fallen as well, with only one eviction in 2024/25, compared with previous years when evictions were a more common outcome. The system’s ability to identify and manage arrears early has reduced the volume of cases needing legal intervention and helped to sustain tenancies.
