Amillan delivers £300k unified comms for Yorkshire Housing

Communications integrator Amillan has completed the implementation of a new unified communications and IP telephony system at Yorkshire Housing’s new office in Leeds. Amillan said that the initial part of the project, which covered cabling, local area networking, wireless networking and unified communications, had cost around £300,000.

The implementation follows Yorkshire Housing’s decision to move 250 members of staff to a new corporate centre in Leeds. In line with the housing provider’s aim of improving customer service, staff productivity and operational efficiency, Amillan’s unified communications systems gives Yorkshire Housing advanced presence capabilities, skills-based call routing, collaboration, conferencing, and support for its mobile workforce, irrespective of their location.

Adrian Hall, head of ICT, Yorkshire Housing, said, “Amillan’s system has provided us with the full spectrum of technologies we needed at a competitive cost. A key factor in the success of the project has been Amillan’s precise and all-encompassing project management.

“The fact that one company was able to provide all aspects of the system made the whole installation much more straightforward, combined with Amillan’s ability to carefully manage not only its own installation but also to provide co-ordination with third parties as well.”

For the first phase of the project, Amillan installed Excel Cat6 cabling, an Aruba wireless network, new LAN switch technology and IPFX’s IP telephony system with unified communications. The IPFX system includes full contact-centre capabilities such as call recording, full reporting, advanced presence capabilities, wallboard monitors, integration with Yorkshire Housing’s CRM system and the intelligent ability to stop and start recording when credit card payments are taken.

The second phase of Yorkshire Housing’s project will be the roll-out of the IP telephony and unified communications system across the company’s five other locations and satellite offices across Yorkshire.
