Kypera – first .NET housing management system

With the recent release of Kypera Housing 2.5, Kypera said that it is the first comprehensive housing management system to use the latest Microsoft.NET technology throughout, and expects the new system to move the company from a niche to mainstream player in the UK housing sector. New Gorbals Housing Association is already using the new version to manage over 5,000 properties.

Neil Robinson, an independent consultant from Reformed Poacher, said, “The fact that Kypera Housing has been built from scratch using the latest technology, rather than evolving over many years, makes it much cleaner and easier to use and implement, delivering cost savings that housing providers will find hard to ignore.

“The .NET framework makes Kypera Housing fully-Microsoft standard throughout, and therefore familiar and simple to use at the end-user level. The use of a Microsoft-driven reporting suite is a very powerful and clear benefit – users’ existing familiarity with the interface means that they typically need less training, and it is easier to extract and sort data and simple to run queries.”

Kypera estimates that a housing provider with 3,000 properties would save more than £100,000 over five years, including implementation and training (approx. 30 days), maintenance, licensing and upgrades. The company has also guaranteed that total contract values will be below the EU Tender Threshold which is currently £157,000 over a four-year period for all housing providers with 5,000 properties.

Mary Reilly, finance manager, New Gorbals Housing Association, said, “Our recent expansion has doubled the amount of stock we manage to over 5,000 units and Kypera Housing has coped with this effortlessly. Furthermore, the upgrade to version 2.5 was completed in five days and the new employees that we took on as part of the transfer were trained from scratch on all aspects of Kypera Housing within that period.”

Reformed Poacher’s Robinson concluded, “By delivering a slick, straight-forward but comprehensive solution based on the latest technology, Kypera Housing has now grown up. Its core functionality delivers the essential requirements very well and offers significant efficiency benefits and cost savings to housing providers.”
