Vale of Aylesbury aims for 100% IoT with Switchee

Vale of Aylesbury Housing has begun installing Switchee IoT devices in around 15 per cent of its properties, towards its longer-term goal of making all of its 6,500 properties fully IoT-connected.

The housing provider is using Switchee’s smart thermostats to pre-emptively identify and resolve problems with mould and damp, based on its successful trial of 400 devices in 2018. The trial enabled Vale of Aylesbury Housing to take proactive action against mould and damp in 20 per cent of the properties involved in the trial, as well as carry out remote heating tests to identify boilers that were likely to need attention.

Vale of Aylesbury Housing also found that appointments scheduled using the Switchee devices achieved a 100 per cent first-time access rate during the trial.

Andrew Rysdale, assistant director of property, Vale of Aylesbury Housing, said, “Although we originally trialled Switchee to help us prevent damp and mould, it became clear that the Switchee devices and its data management platform could provide so many other benefits, such as scheduling appointments for our housing and repairs team and acting as a very good tool for communicating with tenants.”
