Double win for MIS at Bromford Group and Housing Plus

In a project valued at £150,000 and due to be completed by April 2010, Bromford Group is deploying the MIS-AMS ActiveH housing management system across all members of its group.

Bromford Group, which owns 25,000 properties, employs more than 1000 staff and has been an MIS Active Management Systems customer for the past decade, is undertaking a programme to align key policies, processes and systems across the group. This will culminate next year with the deployment of existing ActiveH modules covering assets, contacts, CRM, rents and repairs, as well as the implementation of planned maintenance.

Nick Cummins, group executive director, Bromford Group, said, “We see major benefits to our services to customers and business performance by implementing a single consistent suite of MIS business applications across all the housing associations in the group. In a complex and economically-challenging environment, this will provide us with the platform to deliver the best and most effective service for our customers.”

South Staffordshire Housing Association, a member of the Housing Plus group, has implemented straight through processing (STP) for all of its letting applicants using technology from MIS-AMS. SSHA’s new ‘My Homefinder’ website advertises the association’s vacant properties, then allows prospective and existing tenants to register, view and bid for properties that are currently available.

By using STP, the MIS-AMS system runs with little back-office intervention as applicant and property details are transferred directly from the My Homefinder website to the Housing Plus ActiveH SQL Server-based housing system, eliminating re-keying and error-prone human intervention.

Following initial meetings with SSHA in November 2008, technical work began in January 2009 with the MIS-AMS project complete by May 2009. As part of SSHA’s choice-based lettings programme, several hundred applicants have already used the new service.

Sharon Tatton, systems analyst, South Staffordshire Housing Association, said, “The project went very smoothly and was completed to tight deadlines. It was good to see the website go live and watch the first applicants using the system. The tightly integrated approach has made this process much smoother and more efficient for our customers.”
